Brady's Bend - Last Harrah!
Plans are to travel to Brady's Bend, PA to see the changing leaves along the river, before we call an end to our boating adventures for this year. The weather is beginning to return to normal which means cooler temps - more like fall.
Friday's forecast is for rain, so we will pull the boat Saturday morning and haul up to East Brady to explore.
Sunday afternoon, we will load back up and haul the boat home & spend the week unloading and winterizing before hauling to winter underground storage.

Where's Autumn?
This past weekend we enjoyed warm, sunny weather, more like August than October, but no matter we'll take it!!! Saturday my brother, Jeff and his family joined us on the boat for the 1st time, since we got it. Also joining us was our freinds, Barb & Denny. We fished, cooked bergers, dogs & shrimp on the grill.
Sunday, Our daughter, Jess and her boyfreind, Rick joined us!

This past Sunday, Jessie & Rick and Shawn and his friend, Adam joined us on the boat. 1st we did some fishing, Jess & Rick caught a fish and Cliff almost did!
Shawn & Adam met us back at the dock and we did some tubing. We traveled thru lock #5 and stopped and made steak, hotdogs and hamburgers on the grill,

Someone at our marina said we have until the 20th of October before they will pull the docks for the season, that gives us a little less than a month to stay at our slip. I have made arrangements to store our boat at Brady's Bend Mine this year. Having the boat stored in the mine will protect our boat from the harshness of winter and save on our winterizing expenses. The year-round tempature is 68 degrees with 68% relative humidity. All I need to do is add fuel stabilizer to the fuel tank and mix antifreeze to the engine.
Extended Boating Season
Still enjoying fun on the Allegheny River! Maria and I are spending evenings and weekends on the boat to get the last of our summer of fun. Tomorrow is the 1st day of Fall but the weather continues to be warm.
Kathy & Will joined us last nite and we went through lock #4 and we spent time looking for a houseboat, that is for sale, that Kathy & Will are interested in buying.... Darkness fell and we anchored out and grilled pork and rice that Kathy & Will brought with them. Then we headed back up river in total darkness, through the lock and back to our marina.

Boating Season winding down
September 2007
We have enjoyed a fabulous summer on the water, but Maria & I both don't want to see it come to and end! Pictures from Labor Day and this past weekend with our freinds Carol and Tubby. They have pulled their boat out for the year. We are hoping that "indian summer" lasts through October!

More boating fun!

Sunday morning
Well the forecast is calling for rain. We had planned on Ray & Julie to come out and pay us a visit, but we will do it another day. Maria is watching a movie and I am blogging and checking out web sites and checking email. We will leave the camper top up when we head out, later today, it should keep everything nice and dry. Despite the weather, it's still nice to be on our boat with a panoramic view of the river. Listening to soft music on xm satilite radio and the sound of the water spashing next to the boat..... Maria is bundled up in her down comforter, she hates when I run the A/C she likes it HOT!
My brother Jimmy has returned to Pittsburgh from LA to see the Josh Grobin concert with his freind, Kim
Shawn drove out to the Post Gazette amplitheater for a concert last night also, Jessie & Rick planned to go to Rick's camp for the weekend....

August 2007
Kathy reminded me to update my blog! Thanks Kathy!
We came down to the dock early Saturday morning to a wonderful day! Removing the cockpit cover and loading supplies for the weekend. Maria made herself some oatmeal and Cliff inflated the tube with the power vac. We headed up river, below lock #5 and dropped anchor and relaxed and Maria jumped on tube to sunbathe
Maria when for a ride on Moose's houseboat and I have not seen her since!
I will add pictures tomorrow, as Julie and Ray will join us!

Great Summer!
We launched our boat May 5th this year and every weekend has been great! Folks tell us it's been one of the best seasons in years, especially concidering Pittsburgh's reputation for rainy weather! This year I added marine A/C and we have had plenty of chances to use it!
Another upgrade is a hot water heater and faucets.
