Trip to East Brady

Today, we headed for our marina for the last time, this year. Made the boat trailer ready for the ride to East Brady, added air to the tires, installed new tie-downs on the boat, greased the axels and connected the wiring, etc.

Had a nice sunny day up north, enjoying the changing leaves, along the way. We checked in and parked the boat in the mine and headed home. Once home, We moved the jetski into our garage.

We are ready for winter now!

Last ride, taking our boat out of the river

Monday, we came down for a final cruise, up to the Freeport Bridge and back to our marina. Hooked up the trailer to our truck and loaded up the boat, Daylight, not lasting very long, it was dark by 7 PM.

Tuesday I drove out from work and pressure washed the hull and drained the fresh water tank, and the engine manifold, removed the anchor and packed our stuff away - on board, decided to leave most things on-board for storage in the mine, instead of taking everything home....

It is sad to see the season end, but we had a good year! This Saturday we will haul the boat to East Brady.... Come on Spring!

Cliff & Maria

We help celebrate Pittsburgh's 250!

While the weather has been cloudy and cool, we decided to head down to Pittsburgh on Saturday to see the big fireworks display. We were able to get a slip at Lock 1 marina and the couple in the huge houseboat in front of us, ran an extension cord to us, so we could have power & heat for the night. We got to tour both of the boats pictured. They are beautiful! We met two couples who live "year 'round" on the water, they stay at Fox Chapel Marina. Maria wants to move into a houseboat!

The menu included barbeque chicken, prime rib and fresh cut potato fries, beer and a covered dish that each guest brought. I decided to bring my DJ gear and provide the musical entertainment. Everyone had a great time. I played music til almost midnight! We danced the night away. The waether was raining, but that did'nt dampen anyone's spirits!

In the Air!

You just never know what you're gonna see on the river! You don't often get the chance to enjoy boating and watch an airplane take off & land at the same time. We had the chance to see both, this past Saturday & Sunday on the Allegheny River, close to our marina.

Blue Sky!

Blue Sky!
Maria recovering from her fall.
Jessie showing Aunt Kathy the games she play's with her "kids" at summer camp.

This past week has been a "trying" one. On Monday, while Maria was getting ready to leave for work, she slipped at the top of our basement stairs and fell, hitting her head. Fortunately I was working at gibsonia and I came home and rescued her, put ice packs on her back and checked her eye's for a concussion. The next day she went to see a chiroprator and he told her to go to the emergency room, so I took her. After w-rays, CT scan, etc. she was ok, but sore, doc said take the rest of the week off. We tried to make the best of it and spent Thursday and Friday on the boat.

Saturday we went to visit with Carmine & Robert to celebrate, Shawns' graduation, Robert's birthday, Jessie's new car and making the Dean's List at Point Park and Kathy & Will's departure for Russia! Wow! What a week!

4th of July at the Point

After much debating about the weather, Maria & I decided to venture down 3 locks to the Point at Pittsburgh. We left our dock about 2 PM and arrived about 5 PM. We were stopped at the 10th Street bridge because of the formula 1 powerboat races. At 8:15 PM we were allowed to move downtown. Jessica and her friends were also there and we picked them up at PNC Park and parked next to The Science Center submarine to watch the fireworks and laser light show.

We all had a great time. After the show, we dropped off the kids at PNC Park and looked around for a place to stay for the night. I wanted to stay at the docks at Station Square, but they were full...We wound up dropping anchor outside of PNC Park, 10 feet off the shoreline.

On Saturday we headed north, back to our marina, and not a drop of rain! on our return trip. Our marina got a new shipment of gasoline, now $4.80 a gallon!
