Party for Trish, haul boat to E. Brady
Happy "surprise" Birthday Trish! Cliff got a DJ gig at our boat club on Saturday, after we pulled our boat out. Everyone had a great time, played music til midnight. On Sunday, we came back and hooked up the trailer & hauled the boat to East Brady mine. Safely stored for the winter. And so ends another boating season! Come on Spring 2010!!!

End of boating season 2009

We are about to call it quits for this year. Looking at our marina, lots of folks have already pulled out for the year. We came out on Saturday for a few hours & again on Sunday. Warm weather is just a memory now. We hauled the jetski home today & plan on taking the boat out this week. Note: Cliff got a speeding ticket on Saturday! 1st in 50 years!

Beaver River Trip Part 5
Well, we made it back to our marina around 5:00PM after a very nice cruise up the Ohio River towards Pittsburgh. We were held up for about an hour, because President Obama was speaking at the convention center today. The coast guard would not let us go past the 7th street bridge. After the presidential motorcade left, we were allowed to procede. We travelled the 3 locks to our marina, home at last!
Beaver River Trip Part 4
On Monday, Maria and I cruised down the Ohio River to the Mongomery lock & dam and past the Shippingsport Nuclear Power Plant - Boy those cooling towers are BIG, up close! We had heard about an island called Phylis Island, that has sandy beaches, where you could "beach" your boat on shore. Well we found it & beached the boat - but the beach area was rather small. We played on shore and I found Maria a piece of "driftwood" to take home with us! Ha Ha Ha!

Beaver River Trip Part 3
We woke on Sunday to clearing skies and sunshine! We had the Champaine breakfast at Jeffries Landing, on their deck, overlooking the marina & the Beaver River. Afterwards we took the boat out for a cruise, down to the Ohio River. Stopping along the way to look for used houseboats for Kathy & Will. Later in the afternoon we joined a raft-off with 7-8 other boats. We had a nice time with this group, most of them dock at Jeffries Landing.

Beaver River Trip Part 2
Maria & I left the Allegheny River at the point, cruised by the new Rivers Casino and ventured onto the Ohio River. Down thru the Emsworth lock & dam and continued to the Dashfield lock & dam, Those are BIG locks! They both have 2 chambers, a double wide chamber & a single wide chamber, also we did'nt realize we would be traveling downstream! after that we travelled another 15 miles to the mouth of the Beaver River. The Beaver is like the Kiski - Narrow, and shallow, but with lots of marina's along the way. We called 2 marina's and asked about a slip for a couple nights. We decided on Jefferies Landing - they have a resturant & bar on site. Next door to them is a place called Kellies - with palm trees and a tropical atmosphere. They are REAL palm trees! They actually have them trucked from Florida every year, because they will not survive our winters. We went to Kellies for dinner and headed back to our boat for the evening - later listening to music by a DJ til the wee hours of the morning.
Beaver River Trip Part 1
Maria and I left our marina on Friday to boat down the Allegheny River to reach the Beaver River. We stopped for dinner at Red Fin Blues. Maria had samon & I had all you can eat Crab Legs - Good. Our waitress arranged for us to be able to spend the night at the marina, Washington's Landing - for free! We went back to the outdoor bar and listened to Freedom Band. They are a great Reggae group.

Last August Weekend
Stayed home Friday, due to rainy weather & didn't venture out till afternoon on Saturday for the same reason. When the clouds parted, we drove over to Barb's and hooked up her new Seadoo jet boat to our truck. hauled her boat to our marina for her maiden voyage, After installing new spark plugs, backed down the ramp.
Maria & I went for rides on Barb's boat.

Hot August Weekend
We finally got to enjoy some hot August weather! A great weekend with no rain! On Saturday I replaced the broken antenna and replaced the manual pump on the "head" with an electric conversion - works great! Maria trying to get the lime out of her Corona bottle. We had a couple of paddle wheel boats come past our marina. Check out the video!

It's August! Time for some nice weather!
We have to say... It's not been one the our best seasons weather-wise so we hope the month of August turns out better than May, June and July. Maria is ready for some hot 90 degree days!! We came down to the boat on Friday, after work and spent the whole weekend on-board. Saturday was beautiful, but Sunday is rainy. We put the jetski in the water and Maria took a ride up the Kiski and Shawn came out and drove it around also. One thing about a rainy day, it gives me a chance to update my blog!
